Letter of Apology

Dear Editor and readers of Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism:

In our recent review ‘Schaller B, Graf R: Cerebral ischemia and reperfusion: the pathophysiologic concept as a basis for clinical therapy’, published in J Cereb Blood Flow Metab 2004;24(4):351–371, substantial portions of the sections on hyperglycemia and reperfusion, recent infection/inflammation and reactive oxygen mechanisms and reperfusion have been taken from the review of Kent et al ‘Heterogeneity affecting outcome from acute stroke therapy: making reperfusion worse’, published in Stroke 2001;32(10):2318–2327.

In my function as co-author, I did not recognize this fact.

To the Editor and the readers of Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism as well as the authors of the article in Stroke, I would very much like to apologize.
