Abstract
The scientific literature on CIFRE theses (Industrial Research Training Agreements) in social sciences highlights the ambivalence linked to the hybrid status of doctoral students, oscillating between that of apprentice researcher and that of salaried employee within an organization. This research, often carried out in the form of action research, confronts doctoral students with dilemmas regarding their double posture. In this article, I propose to analyze my CIFRE thesis experience within a French association dedicated to combating educational inequalities. The proximity to the field enabled me to explore research perspectives not initially envisaged. By reformulating the initial subject of the thesis, I integrated new questions while collaborating with my colleagues to create alternative modes of research restitution, thus fostering links between the academic and professional.
