The following article has been retracted at the request of the Journal Editor and Publisher:
Ma L, Zhu X, Tang C, et al. CNS resident macrophages enhance dysfunctional angiogenesis and circulating monocytes infiltration in brain arteriovenous malformation. J Cereb Blood Flow Metab 2024; 44: 925-937. doi:10.1177/0271678X241236008
Sage was alerted to a conversation on PubPeer concerning the article.
Concerns were raised about the following figures in the article:
A) Figure 6A (AVM+V / 8 weeks) appears to overlap with Figure 3A (Low Dose/9 weeks)[1]
Sage contacted the authors about the concerns and requested the underlying raw images. The authors provided the underlying raw images and stated that the reason for the image overlap was that some of the mice in the low dose group in [1] were also included in the group receiving vehicle treatment in the article in Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism. In assessing the authors’ response, the Journal Editor determined that the authors were unable to resolve the original concerns raised.
Due to unresolved concerns about image integrity that call into question the validity of the findings the Journal Editor and Sage retract the article.
The authors disagreed with the decision to retract when informed. Author A. Y. could not be reached.
