Abstract
The prevalence and severity of adverse drug reactions among the elderly remain major areas of concern. The theoretical expectations of adverse drug reactions in the elderly may differ from actual clinical occurrences. Predisposing factors such as physiologic changes with aging and polypharmacy may complicate the picture, although enhanced communication between physicians and patients can help. Awareness of these situations may aid in the clinical control of adverse drug reactions.
