Abstract
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is emerging as an attractive therapeutic option for thyroid nodules. This therapy may serve as a less-invasive alternative to surgery for patients who wish to decrease the compressive symptoms or aesthetic concerns from a benign thyroid nodule. This video details the background of RFA technology and the application of treating benign thyroid nodules.1,2 Candidacy for treatment is discussed, from both a patient perspective and ideal nodule characteristics. 3 An overview of preprocedure screening and work-up is provided for practitioners who wish to employ RFA as a treatment for thyroid nodules.3,4
