Synthesis and spectroscopic studies of new organotin(IV) complexes with dithiocarbamate derivative of L-proline

Abstract

New organotin complexes, [SnMe₂(dtc-pro)] (1) and [Sn₂Bu₄Cl₂(dtc-pro)] (2), have been synthesized from reaction between SnR₂Cl₂ (R = Me or Bu) and dithiocarbamate derivative of L-proline (dtc-pro). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, ¹H NMR and ¹¹⁹Sn NMR spectroscopies. Spectroscopic data suggest a polymeric structure for 1 and a dimeric structure for 2, in which the ligand has been coordinated through both carboxylate and dithiocarbamate groups between two tin atoms. On the basis of ¹¹⁹Sn NMR data coordination number of tin atom in solution is five.
