Abstract
This paper investigates the performance of banyan-based copy networks with internal buffering. By using certain simplifying assumptions, we develop a model that is computationally feasible and that takes into account the special characteristics of the next-to-boundary states of the buffer modules, viz., the increased arrival rate to buffers in state b−1 (where b is the size of the buffer modules) and the increased departure rate in state 1.
