Abstract
A rhodamine derivative, (Z)-3’,6'-bis(diethylamino)-2-[{(8-hydroxy-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydropyrido[3,2,1-ij]quinolin-9-yl) methylene}amino]spiro(isoindoline-1,9'-xanthen)-3-one, has been synthesised. It has been shown, by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies, to have good selectivity for monitoring Zn2+ ion in ethanol solution.
