Total Luminescence Spectroscopy in the Identification and Detection of Coumarin (1,2-Benzopyrone) in Road Fuels

Abstract

Total luminescence spectroscopy was used to differentiate between coumarin and other fluorescent compounds in samples of diesel road fuel. With this technique, the presence of coumarin could be confirmed in samples of fuel adulterated with rebated kerosene.
