Abstract
An approach utilizing diffuse reflectance FT-IR is described whereby the desorption of carbon monoxide from a pigment surface is correlated with the adsorption of two organo-functional silane materials, 3-chloropropylsilane (CPS) and 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS). Correlation of observables from a single set of measurements provides an efficient means to determine the results of adsorption as a function of adsorbate structure and treatment solution concentration.
