Abstract
In this case study, 2D and 3D transesophageal echocardiogram images revealed a quadricuspid aortic valve in a patient undergoing an evaluation for an infection. Quadricuspid aortic valves are rare and frequently associated with other anomalies (most frequently coronary anomalies). They are often discovered incidentally but may become clinically apparent because of valvular dysfunction (most commonly valvular regurgitation). The incidence and clinical aspects of congential quadricuspid aortic valves are reviewed briefly.
