Abstract

The following article has been retracted at the request of the Editor and Publisher:
Ali Abed Wahab B, Ain Salehen N, Abdulla MA, et al. Pinostrobin attenuates azoxymethane-induced colorectal cytotoxicity in rats through augmentation of apoptotic Bax/Bcl-2 proteins and antioxidants. Sage Open Medicine. 2023;11. doi:10.1177/20503121231216585
Sage was contacted by a reader with concerns regarding the images in the article. Sage was also alerted to a conversation on Pubpeer highlighting concerns.
Concerns were raised about the following figures in the article:
1) Figure 4 panel A [normal negative rats] appears highly similar to Figure 2 panel A1
2) Figure 5 panel A [cross-sectioned colonic tissues in rats, Normal controls] appears highly similar to Figure 2 panel A2
3) Figure 6 panel E appears highly similar to Figure 6 panel C1 and Figure 5 panel B2
The authors were not able to provide an explanation for the concerns and were unable to provide the underlying raw data.
Due to the unresolved concerns about image integrity, that call into question the validity of the findings, the Journal Editor and Sage retract the article.
The authors did not respond when notified of the retraction.
