Criptococcosi generalizzata in paziente immunodepresso non AIDS

Abstract

Il criptococcus neoformans è il fungo più frequentemente coinvolto nelle infezioni del SNC ed in assoluto il terzo agente patogeno in ordine di frequenza nei pazienti AIDS.

In tali soggetti si osserva spesso una forma di infezione disseminata che coinvolge anche altri distretti. Più raramente un'infezione del SNC da criptococco può verificarsi in pazienti immunodepressi non AIDS.

Gli autori descrivono un caso di paziente immunodepresso non AIDS, affetto da linfoma gastrico NH centroblastico centrocitico, sottoposto a trattamento chemioterapico e steroideo, che ha sviluppato una criptococcosi generalizzata di particolare gravità ed estensione, quale di solito si osserva nell'AIDS, con interessamento cerebro-meningeo, vertebrale-paravertebrale e prostatico.
