Abstract
This study addresses the need for more empirical work regarding the value of human resource (HR) certification. The study extends previous research by examining the beliefs of top organizational leaders regarding the benefits of having HR-certified professionals in the organization. In addition, the authors compare and contrast managerial perceptions based on whether the leaders themselves hold certification (i.e., not certified, HR certified, or non-HR certified). The results show that 90% of organizational leaders perceived HR certification for their human resource professionals to be beneficial. Despite this perception, the results show that HR certification has limited influence on managerial decision making for career-related outcomes.
