Abstract
Preventive measures aimed at minimizing the occurrence of WMSDs of upper limbs can be divided into three categories: structural, organisational and educational. Organisational measures essentially relate to job design (i. e. distribution of tasks, speeds and pauses). They serve to alleviate problems connected with frequency and inadequate recovery periods. The objective of the study was to lower the frequency and to increase the recovery periods taking into due consideration the impact on the production levels (and costs). The authors illustrate in some detail a practical trial conducted in a major engineering firm.
