The Occurrence of Musculo-Skeletal Alterations in Worker Populations not Exposed to Repetitive Tasks of the Upper Limbs

Abstract

A total of 749 workers 310 males and 439 females, both aged between 15 and 55 years performing task not at risk for WMSDs of the upper limbs, underwent a clinical examination using a standardized method. Of the 1498 limbs examined, the prevalence of the main diseases reported were: CTS (2,5% among the female aged >35 years); wrist-hand tendinitis (0,9% among the males aged >35 years, 0,9% among the females aged 15–35 years). The number of workers with at least one WMSDs was: males (3,5% in >35 years age), females (2,3% in the 15–35 years age, 7,2% in the >35 years age; 3,9% of total sample population.
