Abstract
Bonded fabrics are a reasonable substitute tor leather because, like leather they give good isotropic performance, good tear strength, and stitch tear resistance. The web required for making synthetic leather based on bonded fabrics is made from five denier fibers The base material may be coated with either PVC or urethane coating, using the transfer process. While most of the synthetic leathers used today are used by the shoe industry, it may be expected that there will be a great increase in the garment and fancy leather goods industries.
