Abstract
In major cities within the past decade, community-based nutrition programs have emerged. These programs are designed to meet the specialized nutrition needs of people such as those individuals living with the human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS). This article details one such program, Food Outreach, Inc. People living with HIV/AIDS may need the services of programs such as Food Outreach throughout the course of HIV disease. Home health care practitioners should become familiar with programs in their area and refer clients to services as needed.
