Abstract
Non-invasive ventilation seems to have gained in popularity in the past few years for pediatric patients with a variety of disease processes. Although it is infrequently used for acute respiratory failure, it is becoming a popular choice for ventilation assistance in a variety of chronic disease processes and not just limited to asthma, cystic fibrosis and other neurological disorders that impair breathing. As the medical team acquires more experience in non-invasive ventilation, a new frontier in the home setting is now being explored.
