Pain is now identified as the fifth vital sign, yet this component is not always addressed as part of a wound assessment. With more patients being cared for at home with chronic wounds, adequate pain management options are essential to improve quality of life and patient outcomes. The focus of this article is to identify the importance of appropriate pain assessment and offer specific management options for our wound patients at home.
