Abstract
Monitoring serum concentrations of anticonvulsant drugs has improved substantially the treatment of epilepsy. However, a sound knowledge of the pharmacokinetics of anticonvulsant drugs is necessary when interpreting serum concentration results and considering dosage adjustments of these drugs.
A computer program developed to assist physicians and pharmacists in designing individualized medication regimens for patients with epilepsy is described. The program also can be used as an interactive educational device for medical and clinical pharmacy students.
