Abstract
The flow behavior of magnetorheologic fluids (MRFs) flowing through variable orifices were experimented and the properties of the magnetic field around the orifice were analyzed by the finite element method in this article. The results show that the magnetic effects of MRF differ according to: the material, the position, and the thickness of the rectangular orifice. In this article, the relationship between orifice shapes and flow behavior of MRF is described. The results are valuable for MRF device design.
