Abstract

At the request of the authors and the Editor-in-Chief, the following article has been retracted.
Tao Peng, Lixiang Zhou, Hui Qi, Guangming Wang, Yongxin Luan and Ling Zuo. MiR-592 functions as a tumor suppressor in glioma by targeting IGFBP2. Tumor Biology 2017;39(7):1–9. doi: 10.1177/1010428317719273
The authors state that having performed additional experiments with contradictory results, they realised that in the published study they have 1) mistakenly classified adjacent normal tissues as glioma tissue, and thus incorrectly showed the levels of miR-592 in gliomas to be downregulated; 2) mistakenly contaminated the U87 cells used for functional studies of miR-592 overexpression, and therefore the results of the cell proliferation, migration and invasion are not reliable.
In addition, the authors question their experiments that showed IGFBP2 as a direct miR-592 target and claim that their new experiments showed that IGFBP2 is not a target of miR-592 in glioma. The authors claim their article is largely flawed.
