Feedforward compensation control method designed for gust alleviation of aircraft with large aspect ratio

Abstract

The large aspect ratio aircrafts have strong response in gusts due to its light structure and large flexibility, resulting in flight accidents. The current control methods for gust alleviation are mostly feedback control, which still has the problems of slow control response and unsatisfactory response peak mitigation under high intensity low-frequency wind disturbances, while feed-forward control relies heavily on sensors and is plagued by reliability problems. In view of the above status quo, this paper designs a feed-forward compensation control method, based on the commonly used feedback control system, adding the feed-forward control loop including integrated direct lift control. Taking a large aspect ratio aircraft as an example, a rigid-flexible coupled flight dynamics model is established to compare and analyze the gust alleviation effects of only the feedback control system and the feedforward feedback composite system after the feedforward compensation in this method. And the robustness of the control method is verified by Monte Carlo simulation. The results show that the control system under feedforward compensation not only can suppress the response and regulation speed caused by high intensity wind disturbance, but also promotes the regulation speed of high-frequency gusts.
