Abstract
The outcome of the research spanning the years in electrochemical discharge machining (ECDM) and its variants based on material removal mechanism is presented in this article. This article also overviews the input and response parameters used during experimentation. The core findings of various past investigations are illuminated through their inferences. The following sections highlight the developments in the ECDM process; further, the studies on different electrode materials with various electrolyte solutions are also incorporated. In addition, the electrode effects during water electrolysis and the effect of ultrasonic vibration on the machined surface were studied.
