Abstract
The influence of manufacturing errors and assemble errors on the tooth contact in the planar internal gear enveloping crown worm drive (the crown worm drive) is investigated in this paper. Based on the gear geometry theory and the common moving frame of conjugate tooth surfaces, the mathematical models of crown worm drive are deduced with various kinds of errors, and the methods of solving the actual contact point and actual contact area are presented, as well as the tooth contact analysis is developed by the numerical examples. This work is expected to give a theoretical basis for the manufacture and assemble of crown worm drive.
