Abstract
The effect of the impactor nose shape on the penetration behavior of polymethacrylimide foams is investigated in the velocity range of 4—8 m/s. It is observed from experimental results that penetration load depends on the geometry of the impactor and the density of the foam. An analytical model is developed to predict the penetration behavior of polymeric foams; good agreement between analytical predictions and experimental data is obtained.
