Smoke emission of 47 materials used in passenger rail vehicles has been eval uated on the ORE smoke density chamber. Equation for rate of luminance decrease vs. time was derived for very accurate approximation of results.
Majority of the materials present small smoke emission and meet inter national railway flammability and smoke requirements. PVC containing materials, some polyester laminates and rubber products must be replaced.
