Abstract
Damage resistance ofthree different carbon fibre and fabric reinforced composites are evaluated after drop-weight impact damage. Finite element analysis coupled with failure criteria developed to predict the impact threshold energy of the laminates. The predicted impact threshold energy agreed reasonably well with the analytical values based on experimental data. An analytical method for predictions of maximum contact force and radius of contact region at different impact energy were presented in order to provide necessary information for finite element analysis.
