Abstract
By using a commercial polyester resin as the matrix and a natural fiber grass (palma samandoca) as the reinforcement material, a composite was prepared. A technique was developed for the preparation of samples and moulds for testing were built based upon standards and the samples were characterized mechanically. These results indicate that there exists a concentration and length of fiber for which a maximum resistance and rigidity is obtained for the composite as compared to the pure resin.
