What is the biological underpinning of the mental processes observed as people respond to group therapy? The evidence linking mind and brain, and for the genetic predisposition to adaptation by the brain, is reviewed. The brain reflects in its structure the social context in which it has developed, and is a sufficient vehicle for the mind and its social manifestations.
