This article discusses the use of transactional analysis with children—particularly ego state theory, contracting, and therapeutic process and technique—with an emphasis on how such work differs from adult psychotherapy. Reference is made to Maria Teresa Romanini’s theory of ego states, her concept of the real ego, and her influence on transactional analysis child therapy.
