Abstract
Reports the experiences of the Chemical Industries Association (CIA), UK, in setting up and hosting an extranet in order to provide an information service to members allowing them to select the exact piece of information they require. Stresses the problems involved in choosing a Web site design company, in particular the problem of finding a basis for comparison. Reports the selection of Motiv Systems Ltd and goes on to describe: the design concept; collection of information; formats; passwords; Internet Service Provider (ISP) problems; feedback from CIA members; means of updating the information available.
