Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate patient compliance with instructions for preoperative body disinfection. A follow-up phone call postoperative to patients who gone through a day surgical procedure gave the opportunity to ask about how the patients had provided the disinfection procedure. Twenty-three patients were interviewed. Twenty-two patients said that the instructions were easy to understand and that they had followed these. The patients were also asked, in detail, to tell how the procedures were done the day before the operation. From these narratives it was concluded that only one patient had really followed the instructions.
