Abstract
This paper describes the development of the Canadian guidelines. Experts in health economics and pharmacoeconomics, representing industry, health authorities, and the provincial and territorial governments, met during a two-day workshop to discuss the key issues leading to the development of pharmacoeconomic guidelines. A third day was open to other interested parties for comments and communication of the results. Following the workshop, the organizing committee and other experts prepared the guidelines, under the auspices of the Canadian Coordination Office for Health Technology.
