Abstract
The distance of Asian destinations from tourist-generating areas has been compensated up to the present by the cheapness of the labor force, which permits a remarkable employment absorption. In the long term, however, such a situation might be affected by a number of factors, notably the improvement of tourism employees' wages. According to the International Labor Office's (ILO) experience, the expansion of the sector in this continent requires that priority be given to some definite fields of action.
