This article first introduces several different types of coating mechanisms and their application environments, including wear-resistant coatings, anticorrosive coatings, waterproof coatings, and flame-retardant coatings. It then introduces several fiber materials used for ropes, including carbon fiber, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene pipe (UHMWPE) fiber, aramid fiber, and steel wire, and gives an analysis and summary of their properties and applications. Furthermore, the current progress of coating research on these four fiber ropes is discussed in detail. Finally, the article summarizes the deficiencies in the relevant research fields and looks forward to their future development directions.
