Abstract
WHILE Government policy remains ambivalent to alcohol use in the 1980s, there are significant changes in campaigning methods, witnessed by the emergence of 'Drinkwise' events in different parts of the country. The current increased vigour and change in style is evident in 'London Drinkwise Week' which has run for four successive years. Last year the Health Education Authority published its evaluation of the 1986 campaign,1 drawing out some of the lessons to be learned from this approach to campaigning. This article summarises its findings, and comments on this approach to promotion of sensible drinking.
