Abstract
Il presente contributo intende indagare la funzionalità conoscitiva della componente narrativa nel romanzo e nella saggistica di Pontiggia. Il corpus di opere prese in considerazione è costituito da: Il giocatore invisibile (1978), Il giardino delle Esperidi (1984) e L’isola volante (1996). Da un punto di vista metodologico, la riflessione sui generi letterari del romanzo e del saggio è il primo passo per introdurre un più preciso esame tematico-stilistico della prosa di Giuseppe Pontiggia. In particolare, l’analisi mostra che se, da un lato, un forte tasso di figuralità è presente nella produzione saggistica, dall’altro, la digressione tipica della forma saggio crea pause all’interno della trama romanzesca in una fertile ibridazione tra i due generi. Se la chiarezza linguistica e la precisione descrittiva sono lapalissiane caratteristiche della scrittura di Pontiggia, è la tensione narrativa il dettaglio da scrutare per rivelare una profondità letteraria solo in apparenza celata dalla semplicità dello stile.
This paper aims to investigate the gnoseological function of the narrative component in Pontiggia's novel and nonfiction. The body of works considered consists of: Il giocatore invisibile, Il giardino delle Esperidi e L’isola volante. From a methodological point of view, reflection on the literary genres of the novel and essay is the first step in introducing a more precise thematic-stylistic examination of Giuseppe Pontiggia's prose. In particular, the analysis shows that while, on the one hand,strong figurality is present in his essay production, on the other, the digression typical of the essay form introduces breaks within the novelistic plot in a fertile hybridization between the two genres. If linguistic clarity and descriptive precision are obvious features of Pontiggia's writing, narrative tension is the detail to be scrutinized to reveal a literary depth only apparently concealed by the simplicity of style.
