Abstract
Introduction:
There is recent accumulating evidence that surgery improves survival in multiple endocrine neoplasia 1 (MEN1) patients with gastrinoma. 1,2 This video describes the steps involved in the resection of pancreatic head gastrinoma in a MEN 1 patient.
Materials and Methods:
Our patient is a 37-year-old female with MEN 1 and had clinical and biochemical evidence of Zollinger Ellison syndrome. Imaging confirmed a 2.5×2.0 cm tumor in the head of the pancreas. The tumor was enucleated laparoscopically using four ports (three 5 mm and one 12 mm port). The port positioning and technical details are as demonstrated in the video.
Conclusions:
This video highlights the importance of knowledge of anatomical principles, meticulous dissection, and a combination of ultrasonic dissector and clips to obtain excellent results despite the challenging location of the tumor.
