Abstract
Infected necrotizing pancreatitis is a challenging and life-threatening clinical scenario, with difficult options for management, specifically in the morbidly obese. We demonstrate a case of a morbidly obese male, with a large peripancreatic abscess secondary to infected necrotizing pancreatitis, where through a minimally invasive approach, a cystgastrostomy was created through which the pancreatic abscess was drained. This lead to complete resolution of the abscess and the patient was discharged from hospital on postoperative day 6. There was no recurrent collection at 6 months follow-up. A minimally invasive approach is feasible in the morbidly obese patient with infected necrotizing pancreatitis requiring surgical intervention.
