Abstract
ABSTRACT
The IOP-lowering effect of pirbuterol, a beta-2 adrenergic agonist, was studied in rabbits. In normotensive rabbits, pirbuterol 0.5% eye drops reduced IOP by 20-25%.
In ocular hypertensive rabbits (by glucose 5% venous infusion), pirbuterol reduced IOP by 20% (0.1% concentration) to 40% (0.5% and 1% concentration). A slight decrease in the effect was noticed after seven days of treatment.
