Rare examples of mononuclear,homoleptic antimony(III) and bismuth(III) aryloxides

Abstract

Homoleptic [E(Odpp)₃]·nL (E=Sb, n=1, L=C₆H₁₂; E=Bi, n=0; HOdpp=2,6-diphenylphenol) are conveniently prepared by the treatment of anhydrous ECl₃ with LiOdpp in THF. X-ray crystal structures on both compounds show that in the solid state they exist as mononuclear species with distorted trigonal pyramidal geometry.
