Abstract
Lithol Rubine BCA is a red pigment widely used in cosmetics. Its Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association adopted name is Pigment Red 57–1. This is a case of pigmented lip dermatitis from Lithol Rubine BCA in lipstick. All of the lipsticks used showed patch test-positive reactions. From the ingredients of the patch test-positive lipsticks, only Lithol Rubine BCA showed a positive reaction. We patch tested the impurities of Lithol Rubine BCA, and 4-(o-sulfo-p-tolylazo)-3-hydroxy-2-naphtoicacid reacted positively.
