Abstract
Patch testing with a new patch test series comprising 29 plant extracts and 16 purified plant allergens sensitized a patient. Retesting indicated that Inula helenium (elecampane, 1% petrolatum) caused the sensitization. It is emphasized that elecampane should be patch tested at a lower concentration, and we suggest 0.1% for patch testing. Patients should be informed to report late flare-up patch test reactions to obtain more information about active sensitization.
