Abstract
Repeated low-grade frictional trauma occurs in a multitude of occupations and can be the cause of irritant contact dermatitis. We believe this to be an entity distinct from psoriatic dermatitis and distinct from the irritant contact dermatitis to which atopics are prone. Recognition of friction as a cause of irritant contact dermatitis is particularly important when determining whether a case is work-related. We report four cases of irritant contact dermatitis that were the result of repeated low-grade frictional trauma.
