Positron emission tomography (PET) was employed to examine time-dependent changes in blood–brain barrier (BBB) permeability to [68Ga]ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) in the rhesus monkey, following reversible barrier opening by intracarotid infusion of a hypertonic mannitol solution.
