Abstract
The use of Mathcad as the computational system for generalized one-dimensional compressible flow is examined. Traditional approaches to the topic are discussed, and details of Mathcad formulations are delineated. Examples are presented that illustrate the details of the Mathcad procedures for a variety of one-dimensional compressible flow applications. The impact on the students' mastery of generalized one-dimensional compressible flow is assessed. The use of Mathcad in this topic was considered to be a success, since (anecdotally) student mastery was enhanced over the previously used structured code development/modification approach.
