Abstract
Internationally, occupational therapy is experiencing increasing difficulty in establishing sufficient placements for students. In order to provide additional placements, the 2:1 model (two students with one practice placement educator) was introduced to the orthopaedic setting of an acute hospital. Different supervision formats were used in the placement and included individual, group and peer supervision. This was the students' first practice placement and their first experience of supervision in the clinical setting. The students identified the advantages of using a range of supervision models to consolidate learning. The students also stated that having a peer to share experiences benefited their personal learning experience within the placement.
