Fifteen horses with chronic back pain for 1/2 to 9 years, who could not function normally, who did not obtain any lasting improvement from other previous treatments, were treated with acupuncture. The treatments were 20 minutes of manual acupuncture. The average number of treatments was 7.9 times adminstered at weekly intervals. After the acupuncture treatments were completed, 13 of the 15 horses were able to function normally.
